Are you a skilled worker wishing to live and work in Australia temporarily?
- Enables employers to address genuine labour shortages by having skilled workers in Australia on a temporary basis for up to 4 years.
- There are three pathways for applicants applying for this visa:
Short Term Stream – For those who have been nominated for a position listed on the Short-Term Skilled Occupations List (STSOL). Applicants must have at least two years of work experience in the nominated occupation. This visa is valid for up to 2 years, with the option to renew once but does not provide a pathway to permanent residency.
Medium Term Stream – For those who have been nominated for a position listed on the Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) or the Regional Occupation List (ROL). Applicants must have at least two years of work experience in the nominated occupation. This visa is valid for up to 4 years and provides a pathway to permanent residency.
Labour Agreement Stream – For applicants that have an employer that wishes to sponsor them through a labour agreement. Applicants must have at least two years of work experience in the nominated occupation. This visa is valid for up to 4 years dependent on the labour agreement.
- This visa requires the following 3 step application process:
1. Standard Business Sponsorship – a sponsorship application is submitted for the employer to gain approval as a standard business sponsor (SBS).
2. Nomination Application – the employer nominates a position and the name of the person to occupy the position.
3. Visa Application – a visa application is submitted evidencing that the applicant has the qualifications and experience to fill the nominated position as defined in the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO).
- Visa applicants must also show evidence of:
– At least 2 years of work experience in the nominated position
– Minimum Vocational Level English
– Good Health and Character
– Health Insurance
- This visa permits applicants to include their family members the visa application.
